The mass start is something the Wild Swimming Brothers have struggled with various times at the start of a race. The start can be very difficult, and off putting, as it’s not something you can really prepare for when training.
The Wild Swimming Brothers, ambassadors for this year’s Open Water Swimathon know a lot when it comes to wetsuits! They're keen advocates for open water swimming, and have swum in rivers, tarns and lakes across the world.
The biggest thing when you’re just getting used to open water is to not rush and not go too far out of your depth quickly. Wherever you’re swimming, in a lake, in a river or in the sea you can always swim close to the shore rather than going out in a straight line. Middle Brother Calum and Younger Brother Jack, ambassadors for this year’s Open Water Swimathon have recorded some videos full of tips and advice ahead of the big day.
Up to £40,000 has been made available to make swimming more accessible for more people, thanks to the charity behind the UK’s largest fundraising swimming event.
